Unless there was something in the software disc this cable came with that made the charging happen, it only worked as a means to connect with my Mac, but not to charge. This cable did not do that. It's a shame, that would have been helpful. Unfortunately, as a Mac user, I only found this product useful in regard to connecting to the internet. I already had all the software needed (and the software disc was only for windows computers), so the only thing I needed the cable for was to charge my Samsung A900M phone while connected via USB.
I can continue to use as a modem without stopping to recharge and my phone stays fully charged. It works in both Linux and Windows. I would recommend this for the Samsung A920. The cable supplied with the Samsung A920 will not charge the phone. I am using this cable to charge my phone and to also use the phone as a tethered modem (Sprint EVDO).
